How to clean a clear phone case and get it looking like new

Knowing how to clean a clear phone case can stop those dreaded yellowing stains in their tracks and make it look like new again. It’s always a horrible moment when you remove your phone case and discover the whole thing has faded to a gross yellow shade. This yellowing is a natural occurrence as the case ages and is exposed to ultraviolet light as well as heat, so it can’t really be avoided. On top of that, grease and grime can build up stains of their own with everyday use.

The good news is that you can get rid of these stains with relative ease. All you need to do is use one of the following cleaning methods to restore your phone case. The cleaning products can be found in most homes, so you might have everything you need already. Here’s how to clean a clear phone case.

How to clean a clear phone case with rubbing alcohol

Rubbing alcohol is particularly useful if you want to disinfect the phone case as well as clean it. This solution will kill germs on contact and leave a brilliant shine because it dries so quickly. However, rubbing alcohol has been known to discolor some phone cases, so be sure to check the care guidelines before using and spot test in a small inconspicuous area first.

1. Apply rubbing alcohol to a microfiber cloth. You can do this via a spray bottle or just alcohol wipes as an alternative.

2. Wipe down your empty phone case with the solution, front and back, being sure to work into the corners and charging port hole.

3. Once you’ve done that, remove the alcohol with a clean, microfiber cloth. It dries pretty quickly, so this shouldn’t take long.

4. Leave the case out for a couple of hours to air dry fully before putting it back on your phone.

When is it time to get a new phone case?

If the above way or any other methods don’t work and your phone case still looks pretty yellow with age, it might be time to give up the ghost and invest in a new clear phone case. Just remember to clean your new one regularly to prevent this from happening again.
